Licensing and devices

Short answer

A license binds to a device identifier derived from your hardware. Once verified online at least once, OverRider keeps working on that machine offline with no time limit. Moving to a new computer, or rebuilding an existing one, needs a reset from support.

Where you can buy

SourceYou receive
overrider.ioA license key by email and on your account page
CodeCanyonA purchase code from your Downloads page

Both activate the same application. Use the option matching where you bought it — a purchase code is not a license key and the two are not interchangeable.

The free trial

A 7-day trial is available from the activation screen. It is tied to your computer and can only be started once per machine; it cannot be restarted or extended.

How licenses bind to a device

Activation registers your license against a device identifier derived from your hardware. That identifier is what stops one key being used on unlimited machines.

It can change without you moving computers. Any of these may make OverRider treat the machine as new:

  • Reinstalling Windows
  • Replacing the motherboard, CPU or system disk
  • Some large Windows feature updates

If that happens, ask support for a reset — it is a routine request.

Moving to a new computer

  1. Email support@overrider.io with your license key and ask for a device reset.
  2. Install OverRider on the new machine.
  3. Activate with the same key.

To carry your projects and settings across, copy the %APPDATA%OverRider folder to the same location on the new machine before first launch.

Internet requirements after activation

OverRider always needs an internet connection to generate traffic — every visit is a real page load over the network. That requirement never goes away.

What does not need to happen every time is re-verifying your license online. OverRider contacts overrider.io only to verify your license, and once that has succeeded at least once on a machine, license checks keep passing there even when it cannot reach our server, with no time limit on that. This only covers the license check — it does not mean OverRider can generate traffic without internet access.

License verification is the only network call OverRider makes to us. No campaign data, URLs, proxies or statistics are ever sent. Everything else stays on your computer.

License term and updates

OverRider licenses do not expire — there is no time-limited or subscription license for OverRider. It is a one-time purchase with lifetime access and lifetime updates. Version history is in the changelog.

Checking your status

The License section of Settings shows your current state, the activated key and the bound device. Include that information when contacting support to speed things up.

Running on more than one machine

A license is for one machine at a time. If you need OverRider on several computers simultaneously, you need a license for each.

If OverRider is installed on more than one machine, remember that scheduled projects start automatically on each of them. This is the usual explanation for traffic appearing after you thought everything was stopped. See Traffic continued after I stopped a project.

Refunds

Purchases from overrider.io follow the refund policy published on the site. CodeCanyon purchases follow Envato’s refund rules, which are handled by Envato rather than by us.

The 7-day trial exists so you can confirm OverRider does what you need before buying — particularly worth doing after reading What OverRider does not do.
